Standard#1: Risk is mitigated by profit. Any burden of shame or responsibility created by the harm we do to other humans and the global ecesystem will be offset by the status and material wealth we accumulate. No risk, no gain.

Standard #2: There is no ‘right to know’ what we are up to. By the time the negative consequences are apparent, which may be generations from now, transparency won’t matter. Be responsible to no one.

Standard #3: The dynamic complexity of global ecology means we cannot anticipate the consequences of our technology. We must see the world only in minute disconnected parts where the consequences appear controllable. Reduce everything to create the illusion of understanding.

Standard #4: Never EVER address the root causes of the problem our novel technologies propose to solve. Every problem caused by one technology can be solved by another. The success of our “science” depends on embracing this ideology without question. Kill the heretics.

Standard #5: Play to the hubris of the moneymen we depend on for our wealth and status. Tell them whatever story they need to hear. Never discuss risk, only returns. Promise far beyond our means. Be for them the biggest fastest disruptor, for this is why they are the moneymen. Never question the motives of capital.

Standard #6: There is only the short term. Our current labs and our current projects are rubber duckies in the bathtub of the global investment community. Take what we can get at every chance. Our loyalty is to ourselves. The planet and humanity are not our concern.

Standard #7: If we normalize our technology and its risks, we are permanently absolved of our guilt and responsibility for any consequences. Like Zyclon B, our artificially mutated novel living organisms are just science in action. Science is morally neutral.
